Editorial Illustration

Challenge

For one of my illustration courses, we were tasked with finding an article and creating illustrations to accompany the text. I chose a heartwarming story of two male penguins who became mates at the Sydney zoo.

Solution

I decided to break the illustrations up into three parts, becoming mates, building a nest, and adopting an egg. The quick line movement and light color pallet create a positive and playful tone to the illustrations. I incorporated a rainbow into the compositions to convey a sense of pride the article echoed. Altogether, the illustrations work to embody a joyous and powerful series of images.
